Reject People Who Don't Respect Country's Leaders:Najib. We Too Must Reject Leaders Who Don't Respect The Country
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today called on the people to reject any form of unruly behaviour towards the country's leaders.
The deputy prime minister said the government did not want such behaviour to become a norm because it could undermine unity and security of the country.
Citing as example the unruly incident at the Hari Raya open house of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and other Muslim cabinet ministers in Kuala Lumpur last Wednesday, he said such action could cause losses to the country.
"If there are parties with other motives, who don't understand the culture of courtesy, are rude and don't respect the leaders, the people must reject them.
This kind of action cannot become a norm," he said when launching the countdown for the Fei-World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2008 in Gong Badak near here.
Last Wednesday, a group of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) supporters caused a disturbance at the cabinet open house at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) when they cut queue to get into the hall to present Abdullah with a bear and a Hari Raya card bearing 300 signatures calling for the release of Hindraf leaders detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Najib said the government held the open house to enable the people to meet and greet the national leaders without having to observe protocol.
It was a unique culture which was not practised anywhere else in the world and it showed the peace that the people in this country enjoyed.
"Never in other countries can the the people meet their leaders so easily. (But) this value of peace will be destroyed if certain parties have other motives. This value of peace cannot be ignored," he said.
He said that if such actions persisted, it might not be possible to practise the open house concept in future and that would be a loss. (Bernama)
***** Najib should be reminded that his advice cuts both ways and that there will be no more free passes for our so-called pemimpin to do as they please. They will get the respect if they deserve it. No more kowtowing just for the heck of it and our pemimpin should stop expecting mindless public obedience as their birthright.

everyone wants to celebrate any festive season while a smile upon their face and not too worry about anything that gonna happen.
for Hindraf to use the open house in PWTC as a platform to voice out their intention of wanting the release of their leaders and to abolish ISA was not at the right time and at the right place.
certainly there was little kids back then in PWTC who knows nothing about our political situation.if there was anything that gone wrong that day, should the little kids suffered too?.
Hindraf must be more sensitive.for sure they have right to voice out any uncertainty and opinions of theirs but be it in a more proper way.
While I don't condone their action, I think both Najib and Abdullah over react. After all, were there food being thrown on the floor on purpose? Did these people shouted at the guests or booed at their hosts? Did they beat somebody up? I think it's all politics as usual. Looking for someone to blame to divert attention. People who are truly dangerous and can cause bloodshed are thoese who weild their krises at others, those who called others names like pendatang and those who tell lies just to create racial tension. And we all know who they are don't we?
Alibaba
Pancaroba,
Lets see how sensitive you would be if you father, brother or son was rotting away ISAed.
Senang cakap ya...
Folks,
As long as there are people/tools like Pancaroba around UMNO and BN will have a foothold. Really depressing.
Pancaroba,
It was a desperate attempt to reach the PM. Sleepy head simply ignored numerous requests for HINDRAF to submit memorandoms to the PM. The idea to go to the Open House by HINDRAF was in the press weeks b4 Raya.
In any event there was no nuisense at the open house. Only one newspaper and some politicians made a mountain out of a mole hill.
As rightly put in by "oneofthesedays" you will never know the agony till your loved ones are behind bars without proper food etc.
All for the sake of a back ward community.
Again it is Hindraf that gets the blame, the convenient scapegoat. I think people are better informed as to what happened that day...read the blogs.Hindraf was used to make up the numbers, and the main issue to was to address the unjust use of the ISA and the recent spate of arrest of bloggers and the opposition. To blame this solely on Hindraf is again a cheap political game, and using the weakest group to blame and avoiding the main issue. What else do you expect from these leaders. Their backs are against the wall and this is the best they can up come with?
What, Najib wants to be the next Kim Jong Il? With the cult of personality surrounding the leaders of this country (pictures of AAB and Najib everywhere... even on the Tourism Malaysia billboards everywhere, to give an examples), we're fast becoming a (almost) free-market communist police state.
And now, this. While he's not even PM yet...
There were people who wore ABolish ISA and Free RPK T shirts who were then earmarked and maybe even "victimised" by the minders by making them wait and sending them the wrong directions.
At least these people were totally transparent in what they were trying to do peacefully. So, it does not seem agreeable with Pak Lah or Najib but they are still loyal Malaysians.
We need to be mature enough to understand that loyalty to the country of Malaysia does not necessarily mean loyalty to the political party that rules the day.
When TDM:"Look East" Malays looked at their pride and race supremacy.
When AB:"Tell me the truth." But the country was haunted by lies after lies.
Now NTR:"Reject the people.." Is that the true color of our leaders??
freaking hell, who pays for the open house? how many millions are wasted for each open house? and he has the temerity to tell us off. you can now visualize what sort fo PM he is. Cant wait for GE13 to dump this fella off the pedestal.
Politcal leaders deserve to be put in their proper place. If respecting them means ignoring their abuses then I'm afraid Mr. Najib is seriously deluded.
The people have a right to voice out their concern and the people have the right to attend anyones open house. They have been trying to meet the PM for so long and at last they saw their chance. So you think they would waste that opportunity?
Please lah readers open your eyes a bit. Political leaders need to take responsibilit for their words and action and I'm afrad respect is the last thing they deserve.
Kalau susah nak hormat ketua, memang boleh jadi huru hara lah. Pemimpin kita mesti dihormati.
