But The Snake Is A Phallic Symbol, Hamidah Osman. Or Didn't You Know?

At a time when Umno is at its weakest and the quality of its politicians already at the lowest levels since Independence, a Perak state assemblywoman, Hamidah Osman (BN-Sungai Rapat) hit rock bottom yesterday and proceeded to actively dig herself deeper into whatever slime she may have expected to find down there.

While the rest of the members at the Perak state assembly were dueling the way our politicians are wont to, with at least some relevant point being raised to hit out at each other, our lady Hamidah interjected in the midst of the debate to expose her filthy, racist mind as well as give free expression to her irrational preoccupation with snakes. Whether it ends with snakes or extends further to the level of a sexual obsession for phallic symbols and more, is something only that she and those 'close' to her can clarify.

It was reported in today's The Star that this racist Umno excuse for a pemimpin, Hamidah Osman (BN-Sungai Rapat) "earned the wrath of the Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen when she asked whether State assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar 'agreed to disagree' with the well-known fable of whether a snake or a man from a certain racial community should be killed first."

How do you like that for a quality debate? What does it tell you about this detestable woman who probably projects herself to her penyokong2 as a pious and God fearing member of society? With people like her at the helm of Umno what remote chance is there for a truly united and prosperous Malaysia? And do you for a minute think that she'll be the last of the racists from that accursed political party? God bless Malaysia.

Hamidah Osman (BN-Sungai Rapat) should be asked whether she 'agreed to disagree' with the well-known fable of her gender being seduced by satan to give the apple of sin to adam

actually I don't see the rationale of a respectable blog like yours ( up till now ) giving space and wasting your readers' precious time with this kind of nonsense report ?

Hi Bob,
Actually, why are we getting so worked up? What the ADUN has mentioned probably goes thru most peoples minds anyway. Condemning her action does not eradicate the prejudice. To be honest, I dont believe many of her electorate took offence, don't be surprised if they cheer her for it. So in the game of realpolitik, I think she is a winner in that sense.
Does this mean Indians in Malaysia should be content with facing this prejudice? Is this prejudice ok?
Of course not, but the answer lies very much with the Indians themselves, of which I too am a member. We have a backward culture, a habit of engaging frequently in self-destructing behaviour and a penchant for electing leaders (note the plural) who do more good than harm.
Why did this fable arise in the first place? That would serve as a better place for some self examination.

The ADUN may have been fantasising about the phallic symbol when she spontaneously came up with the question directed to the Speaker.

She may also like to take note that other 'communities' too refer to other communities in the same manner.

The past 50 years or so have shown Malaysians numerous members of this species ( phallic I mean) in the sordid corridors of power. We all hope that she is the last of this species in our political arena. and that she stiops dreaming of the phallic symbol whilst carrying out her duties at the Assembly.

I don't quite understand why Malaysians assume that the famous words have anything to do with people from India. I always thought it meant that wild west settlers were advised to kill first the Red Indians who were considered more dangerous than snakes that might not strike if they had to make a choice when both appear at the same time. There is something very rotten about the education system or society when people have no respect or interest in the real situation and twist things to mean other things.

Just another Racist UMNO Leader...nothing new lah...she's probably been "ear-marked" (now that she has shown superior Racist's tendencies) for future "promotions" within UMNO.

I am not a professional pysychiatrist or psychologist but do take an interest in reading matters related to such things like dreams and fantasies. In the Assembly, it is possible that some ADUNs doze off when the going gets uninteresting.

When in a sleeping or half sleeping state the sub conscious is capable of projecting the reality in the mind. This lady must have been thinking of phallic symbols in the dream state when the thought came in a spurt to raise this unrelated question in the House and make a fool of herself. Or, as another writer in this column says that she is projecting herself as a dynamic UMNO leader or sending signals .... to other virile men.

Not surprised with her attitude. One of her parents or perhaps even both are believed to have orang asli ancestary. I think this is a fact.

One of her parents or perhaps both are of orang asli ancestary. Those who know her may know this.

Actually both her parents are orang asli, perhaps 2nd generation or so. Strictly speaking orang asli's are nice people but this specimen is of the pariah type.

I would love to show her my big black and newly circumcised phallus. If she begs, i would gladly stick it inside her and that would surely change her mind about Indians.

51 years later: Have we understood each other better?

http://tangwengheng.blogspot.com/2008/07/51-years-later-have-we-understood-each.html

Apparently not. Otherwise, we would not have witnessed a prominent legislator for the Malay-majority Barisan Nasional coalition, Hamidah Osman, implying that Indians are worse than snakes in front of a State Assembly Speaker, the first Indian to hold such a post in Malaysia in her 51-year post-independence history.

Apparently not. Otherwise, we would have understood that cows are sacred to ~10% of Malaysian population and eating beef is haram for them. We would have avoided serving beef during multi-racial functions, or at the very least put up label saying that this particular food item contains beef.

Therefore, an unbiased review of syllabus and contents of History textbooks as well as that of Ethnic Relations module is timely and long overdue.

Asking Malays not to serve beef or warn guests that a particular dish contains beef in keeping with the religious sentiments of Hindus; Buddhists; Jains; etc is something that has been long forgotten from the time that UMNO and BN became arrogant and self centred with looting of the wealth of the Nation becoming their first priority.

There is a greater semblance of decency and compassion within the Indian and Buddhist communities who generally are vegetarian orientated at religious gatherings; weddings; etc and they generally make it a point not to serve pork or beef and non halal food when a party or 'makan; is held where all communities will be attending.

This HOT HEADED and ARROGANT attitude is already embedded in the likes of Hamidah Osman. God Willing - she will be out in the next election to go back to the tree huts.
