Hindraf Supporters Protest ISA In Johor Baru, Demand Release Of Detainees
About 50 Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) supporters held a gathering in the city demanding the abolition of the Internal Security Act (ISA).
The group, carrying a banner and placards along Jalan Ungku Puan, also demanded the release of the five Hindraf leaders being detained under the ISA, and asked for one of the five, P. Uthayakumar, to be given proper medical attention.
The 11am gathering on Sunday caused a massive traffic jam around the city centre but the supporters dispersed after 40 minutes.
A police official, when contacted, said that the supporters were given 10 minutes to disperse.
He said no arrests were made as they dispersed peacefully. (The Star)
