Islam Surpasses Roman Catholicism As The World's Largest Religion
Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world's largest religion, the Vatican newspaper said Sunday."For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us," Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican's yearbook.
He said that Catholics accounted for 17.4 percent of the world population — a stable percentage — while Muslims were at 19.2 percent.
"It is true that while Muslim families, as is well known, continue to make a lot of children, Christian ones on the contrary tend to have fewer and fewer," the monsignor said.
Formenti said that the data refer to 2006. The figures on Muslims were put together by Muslim countries and then provided to the United Nations, he said, adding that the Vatican could only vouch for its own data.
When considering all Christians and not just Catholics, Christians make up 33 percent of the world population, Formenti said.
Spokesmen for the Vatican and the United Nations did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment Sunday.

What's the bloody use of having the mostest number of adherents to a particular faith, when that faith causes them to be ignorant, arrogant and deceitful, when the majority of them live from hand to mouth to rectum in appalling conditions in such arsehole countries as Somalia, Iraq, Sudan ect?

This is doublespeak newspeak, very twisting like MSMs. Roman Catholicism is one denomination of Christianity which exceeds the 2 billion mark with 3,000 conversions DAILY in China. Today China has the largest number of Christians.

hope they'll nurture the young muslims into clever, cultured & rational human. no more flag burning, riots or even slaughtering footage in 30 years time. dear anon, consider this as a part of human management by god. wiping out the idol worshipers of the Abrahamaic religion & replacing them with people who can actually count the number of their god.
a religion tt uses fear to control its believers, and force to convert non-believers. Quantity doesn't mean quality. I'm sure God Almighty would rather have a small group of righteous, good people than a few billions of murderers, tyrants, torturers, rapists and generally people who can't think for themselves but follow their agenda-laden leaders. 1.24, u started off right in wanting muslims to be rational, clever and cultured because most of them have shown the world they are not. But you ended wrong and bigotted when you wanted one religion replaced by another, and if I read you right, you want one multi-god religion, like the Hindu cows and 1000-arms god??
