Dr Mahathir Well Deserves Nomination For Nobel Peace Prize.
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad well deserved the nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize 2007, Yayasan Salam Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail said.
He said Dr Mahathir more than well deserved the nomination from the four non-governmental organisations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"Dr Mahathir deserved to be nominated for his untiring work in championing the causes of the people in developing countries.
"He is clearly qualified for the Nobel peace prize. He has not only become a leader in this country but also a leader of developing countries.
"He champions the true causes of the people. Malaysia's policies have helped a lot of Bosnians, Palestinians and the blacks in South Africa," said the former Malaysian Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Ex-UN Special Envoy to Myanmar.
Razali described Dr Mahathir as a "strong advocate of peace for his courageous stand against war on humanity."
"He is courageous to take a firm stand against war on humanity. Not many government leaders in the world will act like he does," he added.
The nomination was spearheaded by former Bosnia-Herzegovina Vice-President Dr Ejup Ganic who described Dr Mahathir as the Third World's "most illustrious contemporary" and its "most courageous advocate".
This year's nominees for the award include former US Vice-President Al Gore, Finnish peace broker Martti Ahtisaari and Chinese dissident Rebiya Kadeer. (Bernama)

This must be the greatest joke of the century! Dr M for Nobel Peace Prize? Being a member of UN but does NOT recognize refugees, "shooting" them away from Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar. He was instrumental in not ratifying the United Nations High Commissioner’s power for Refugees (UNHCR). Malaysia did not sign and ratify the agreement on refugees. How can UNHCR's presence be allowed here and yet we don't recognize their powers.
With a lifetime of “warring” and upmanship against the neighbor down south, how can he be nominated for peace prize?
Hahahahahaha...If he gets the Nobel Peace Prize, he should pay for all the former Kamunting ISA detainees to go to Stockholm to attend the ceremony.
Nobel Peace Prize my foot...
The former Yugoslavia, of which Bosnia-Herzegovina was a part, went through hell in the early 1990s because of bigotry and racism. How a bigot and racist like Mahathir can get nominated by, of all countries, Bosnia-Herzegovina, beats me.
Mahathir is responsible for turning Malaysia into a greedy, immoral and violent country. He destroyed public institutions created to protect individuals and stoked traits of the depraved human race previously mentioned. To mentioned his name and the Nobel Peace Price in the same article, let alone the same paragraph is an act to either cheapen the award or forget the evil of the ogre that was Mahathir.
Dr M for Nobel peace prize? During his tenure as M'sian PM, many human rights issues surfaced: Ops Lalang, Bakun Dam, Penan/logging, Orang Asli land grab...etc. I'm sure the Nobel committee's eyes are wide open.
Iam not agree with the nomination, but surely i will happy if he won.
1. Malaysian won Nobel prize, isnt that cool?
2. He will kick Al Gore ass, since Al Gore nominate for same award too
The greatest joke of all is that when we have people commenting on this but DO NOT know what the Nobel Peace Prize is all about. I have always said that ignorance is a dangerous thing and I have many times said in this blog that there are so many ignorant people here!
Let me advice these ignorant people to pay a visit to the Nobel Site and understand fully what the prize is for, the receipients before the present, the controversies and see whether Mahathir is any less worthy of the prize like many others in the list of previous receipient and whether thier comment is still valid!
^ Unfortunately my friend, their comments are valid. I'm sure a man who destroyed and removed the civil rights of Malaysians, tossed people (including his right hand man) into prison on false charges, suppressed the judiciary, among other things... is unfit to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
His international work is selective at best. Remember what his policy about the conflict in southern Sudan? (Tip: Petronas)
remember, bosnia herzegoniva is a muslim country, so obviously he gets a credit for that. unless, the bosniaks are catholic
brighteyes, it is clear you didnt also take up my advice to the others to pay a visit to the nobel site so that you too will know what you comment on. if you had you would understand what I meant in my earlier comment.
I paid a visit to the Nobel website and there was not much details about how one deserves to be nominated. The nomination is done by a group of people, 50 years ago. Dr M probably deserves to win only because of his great deeds that were noted 50 years ago. But if taken into the consideration after that, most would think otherwise...
No harm trying. Kofi Anan took the place he wanted so badly, what next? A Nobel Peace Prize! Seriously, who do you think came up with the idea of nominating an evil-minded megalomaniac for that much coveted award?
What Mahathir wanted, Mahathir got in Malaysia - including the control of the whole judiciary! Malaysia then became too small for him. He needed more. He wanted world fame,(not for lack of earlier desparate attempts)!
When the humble little people start exposing his monumental wrong-doings, he would be famous -guaranteed! Long live Mahathir!
