MP For Jasin - The Artful Dodger.

How this 'close one eye' specimen has managed to survive this long without a scratch, making one fumble after another, speaks volumes of the laxity the government practices and the wide gulf between what is preached and the reality on the ground.

When it seemed that the tutup sebelah mata episode was about to fade into distant memory, Mohd Said Yusof promptly got back into the limelight when he made several allegations that involved the Customs Department. He claimed that several Customs officers had abused their power by selling luxury cars, whose ownerships had been revoked, at low prices to certain parties. The MP for Jasin said he had evidence on mismanagement by the Customs Department as he had seen the cars being kept for selected individuals.

He said the manner the Customs Department answered his queries through the newspapers was not proper. "By right, they should have given me the answers through the ministry. The ministry should be the one replying to me, a Member of Parliament. Not replying in the newspapers," he said.

When it suits him he talks like a responsible MP. However on further questioning we realize that he is nothing but a lot of hot air, like an ill wind that blows no one any good. Asked why he did not make a police report on the matter, Mohd Said said: "How can I report my own government? I am a supporter of the administration. How can I, as a government member, lodge a report with the Anti-Corruption Agency?"

Bloody moron. If he sticks to his logic, then if he were to witness a cold-blooded murder committed by a senior civil servant or a ruling party politician, he probably would not report it because as a penyokong kerajaan, how can he report his own government? I wouldn't be surprised that there are other idiots in high positions who subscribe to this unusual view. Perhaps that's why so few civil servants and politicians are reported for crimes and fewer still are successfully prosecuted.

The Special Select Committee on Parliamentary Integrity has requested the presence of the Customs director-general at its meeting on Tuesday to clarify charges made by Mohd Said Yusof on the auction of luxury cars. I hope the DG will not only clarify, but honestly and in detail relate the role of the Jasin MP in corrupt practices involving the Customs Dept. It is about time that this artful dodger was put to pasture.
