Iran Booted From Malaysian Defence Show For Displaying Missile Systems

Malaysia's deputy prime minister says Iran has been ordered to leave an international defense show in Kuala Lumpur.

Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak said Iranian firms exhibited missile systems at the Defense Services Asia show that were "offensive" and contravened U.N. resolutions.

Najib told reporters Thursday that Malaysian authorities had "no option" but to tell Iran to leave.

The annual show began Monday with hundreds of exhibitors from about 50 nations. On Tuesday, the second day of the DSA 2008, the Iranian pavilion was abruptly sealed off by the organisers.

***** What could the repercussions be from such a surprising and bold move? After all our country has always treaded softly and indeed tiptoed in relations and issues concerning Islamic
'brother' nations. We'll have to wait and see.

The IAEA was unable to certify that Iran was fully cooperating with investigations into its uranium enrichment program.
The UN Security Council resolutions in force, among other things, bans Iran from exporting ballistic missiles.

Malaysia would have been contravening the Security Council ban if it allowed the Iranian missile exhibition to continue.

No doubt with some quiet pressure from the US Embassy

Najib has done the right thing. But one man will be hopping mad soon but then Najib has proved to him he is not a coward.

why is it the right thing? because it is a muslim country that dares defy the big power? of course, if it's islamic country anything against it is always the right thing. if it's against china it's conspiracy ...racism cloaking itself in the name of democracy , human rights and equality...
