No Quit Order For Those Under Graft Probe, Says PM. Of Course We Knew That.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi says, civil servants who are being investigated for corruption, are not required to relinquish their posts.

"Just as in the past, we do not make them give up their positions," he Abdullah told reporters after attending the Bank Negara Board of Directors meeting here Tuesday.

Abdullah who is also Finance Minister said this when asked on whether it was incumbent of a civil service employee, who was being investigated for corruption, to quit from the government.

The Prime Minister said as long as there was no concrete evidence to support the allegation, the civil servant being investigated, need not give up his position.

Referring to allegations of corruption against Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum, Abdullah said action would only be taken if he was proven guilty. (Bernama)

***** What kind of concrete evidence does Pak Lah require before asking a corrupt civil servant to go on leave? The proof apparently provided in the case of the ACA DG is overwhelming, yet there has been no semblance of any action at all! Therefore it is only reasonable for an average person to surmise that the government is not serious in curbing corruption.
